Tamarii Papara
All the way from Papara, Tahiti comes the award-winning danc and music company
Tamarii Papara. Under the artistic direction of Antonio Iro, Tamarii Papara
has participated and won at many "Heiva i Tahiti " competitions.
They are best know for their distinct style of acappella singing called,
Himene Tarava. In addition to an incredible show, Tonio and his performers
will offer dance, singing and music workshops at the San Jose DoubleTree
Hotel
Na Mamo No'eau Hula Halau
Under the direction of Rick Smith, Na Mamo No'eau Hula Halau was formed to
preserve and perform the ethnic dances of the Pacific. The halau has participated
and won many Polynesian dance festivals and competitions in California ,
Nevada , Tahiti and Hawaii . Na Mamo No'eau has also performed at the San
Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival among other prestigious cultural events.
Maori Mo Ake Tonu
Maori Mo Ake Tonu is an exciting and enthusiastic group featuring the song
and dances of "the land of the long white cloud" Aotearoa ( New
Zealand ). Maori director, Tracey Panek, will share with us the beauty of
her culture.
Attraxun
From Seattle, Washington, Attraxun is made up of six young Samoan males, whose
background in music started during their younger years singing in the church
choir. The band has incorporated their musicial influences - Reggae, Contemporary
Hawaiian, Hip Hop, R&B and Traditional Samoan with thier unique style
to form their "Island Urban" style composition.
